I dont think the tranny is shot cause its fine when its cold. and most of all is it gonna fix the problem. Check engine is on and had auto zone hook it up and the code is P1763 gov. I have a 99 dakota ,5.2 V8 automatic and when it warms up it revs up to 3.5g and shifts hard into 2nd and 3rd. There is no recall though! Dodge enthusiasts. Does anyone know what causes these to go out? It seems to be a VERY common problem with dodge. I replaced my governor pressure sensor 2 months ago and it just went out again. I already have a shift kit which did made the probelm worse. I am thinking the valve body could be the issue or maybe the pressure selinoid. I dont want to keep replacing things if they won't reslove the probelm. My engine will not go into 2nd under WOT. I have alway thought this but came to this conclussion that it is heat sensative, obvouisly the hotter the day the more expansion more pressure. Well I replaced this sensor and the problem still there. I also bought a drain plug and installed it in the tranny pan for easier draining in the future. I'm going off of memory here so don't quote me. If I remember both of them together was around $200. The dealer said they sell these to the tranny shops by the handfull every day. Refill fluid and off you go!Īs a side note I also replaced the Pressure solinoid as well just for good measure. ![]() Reverse process with a new sensor, filter and pan gasket. Just drain out the tranny fluid, drop the pan, remove the filter, and then unscrew the bolts that hold it in and unplug it. Yep, mine went out and replaced it myself. Yea and i just took my truck out and that obviously wasnt the solution, idiots always taking the easy way out. but according to the guys that worked on my truck it was a Throttle Pressure/Cable adjustment. No, but my truck was in the dealership yesterday, for the late shift out of first gear problem where most people say the governor pressure sensor is the problem. I was wondering the procedures and how difficult it is. Has anybody replaced this sensor in the transmission. ![]()
